When you play as the Ninja, you can perform much more than Maui

nice lightning-effects

The mansion in the SNES version does not feature the spitting pirate faces from the Genesis/Mega Drive version.

The hand-drawn motion blur effect of ninja’s spinning bo.

Maui temporarily shrunk by a voodoo spell. No Mario mushrooms in this game.

Occasional repeated tiles - it is SNES after all.

Underwater, Maui gets to use his bug gun as propulsion.

Either that's an eyeball-shaped planet, or someone's eye has popped out of surprise seeing that Maui made it this far in his challenging adventure.
